Coming from humble beginnings from the sunny island of Jamaica, W.I., Pamela Kirlew began singing in her local Church Choir at the tender age of 9. To hear Pamela sing now no one would know that she was a shy child you could scarcely hear when she spoke.
Known to her family and friends as a gifted singer, Pamela has been singing for over 30 years. If asked, she will tell you she did not know that she had the power to move people to tears with her voice until her mid-teens when she sang a solo at her local church and was surprised by the response of her audience.
After hearing Pamela sing a Celine Dion song at a wedding, one comment among the many great reviews stood out, “…I wasn’t sure whether I should clap or start shouting (praising God).” Singing to move hearts and touch lives is Pamela’s passion and she has a God-given ability to do just that. Whether she is singing soulful Gospel, belting out a Ballad or grooving to a Reggae tune, the warm alto tones of Pamela’s voice shines through.
Pamela is not new to professional singing. She has recorded with The United Voices in Praise, her church’s choir, and has sung background vocals for various recording artists. As a solo artist, she has prepared herself over the years for her project by singing at church services & conferences, concerts, weddings, anniversaries, schools, and has appeared as a guest artist on Cable TV. She has also sung with various other church and mass choirs, on her church’s praise and worship team and with a gospel group called the Gospel Soul Supremes. She is currently Choir Director and soloist at her local church. She gains inspiration from singers such as Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans, Celine Dion, Anita Baker, Bette Midler and Stevie Wonder, to name a few.
Pamela has released her long-awaited CD, The Many Faces of Love, co-authored with her husband Arnold. These innovative songs remind the listener that love still exists and that marriage still works. A preview of I ChooseYou, a song that reaffirms that love can win out over adversity and deep disappointment, garnered excellent reviews at a 2009 Couples Banquet. You Complete Me celebrates first love, while Live and Love Again shows that there is still hope after you’ve been hurt by someone you loved.
With her husband, Arnold, she writes songs that uplift, edify and encourage. Together they co-founded MYCherub Music & Publishing Group, which aims to publish and release “message-driven music that crosses genres and cultural barriers, transforming lives across the globe one song at a time.”
